The correct 23 tooth speedo gear is available at any Ford dealer.
With the 5th gear overdrive, fuel mileage has not suffered nearly as much as we expected, probably due to the fact that you can upshift to 4th or OD quicker then before. Seat-of-the-pants acceleration is much stronger, especially when passing. Care must be taken at launch to avoid severe wheelspin. Although we are going much quicker, we are roasting the stock radials for twenty feet between gear changes and losing valuable ET in the process. Grannyshifting produced a slower ET then published here.
